50pin IDC plugs to 68-pin mini Sub D plug, internal, moulded. e.g. UW HDD an 50-wire ribbon cable with full active termination. Full termination (upper and lower 8 or 16-Bit) becomes necessary where the adapter receives a U2W/U320 (LVD) HDD as last device on a 50-wire ribbon cable, and consequently the HDD cannot terminate the bus. The adapter takes on this task instead. The last centimeters between adapter terminator and HDD electronics do not significantly influence termination of the entire SCSI bus.
